Storytelling
for Language
Learners

“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the things we need most in the world.”  Phillip Pullman.

Traditional stories are an excellent way to engage your students and expose them to English. Students get to practise their listening skills in a relaxed and authentic setting.
The stories can be adapted to suit students of all ages and all levels from A2 to C2.

I currently have four packages to choose from. Bespoke packages can be provided on request. The options are:

  • 60 minute show.  Choose from three interactive shows - 'Tales from Wales', 'Stories from Around the World' or 'Chinese Proverbs, Stories and Stratagems'.
  • 2 hour show / lesson. The storytelling show followed by games and activities to help the students engage with the stories.
  • 60 minute show / lesson. One or two stories followed by games and activities to help the students engage with the stories.
  • 3 hour show / lesson.  This builds on option two above with some tips on how to be a good storyteller and then a chance for students to prepare and tell their own stories.
  • 1 hour teacher training session. Choose from two options: Bringing Stories Alive - telling stories in the language classroom or Using Stories - a case study, a look at how stories worked with Japanese teenagers..

Get a taste of my storytelling by going to my youtube channel.

The price is £3-5 per student, per hour, (minimum charges apply).  For more information, please contact me using the form below.

I also run a ten-lesson creative writing course for language learners and a storytelling course for teachers. For more information, please contact me directly.
